Genesis 22:14 KJV And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”

In this worship song “Jireh”, God is exalted from this Old Testament name of God found in Genesis 22:14. Fascinating story and look into the character of God and how He does, indeed, provide for his people who trust Him. Jehovah Jireh means The LORD Will Provide. Period. But I like to break down the word Provider into these two components.

PRO = Before. VIDE = To See. Note the KJV saying “it shall be seen”. I like to say, The Lord SEES beforehand, and SEES to it. Just like if you’re preparing what will be needed for a trip, and then you go ahead and take care of it, or see to it.
